B I O G R A P H Y

 

Known for her "delightful, exuberant presence and dramatic engagement" in any style she sings (Carnegie Hall Kurt Weill Institute), Alaskan soprano Nicole Diana Besa-Chamberlin has performed in Europe and the United States as a versatile singer of Opera, Musical Theatre, Pop/Rock, and Jazz. 

 

Nicole's most recent engagement was as the cover of Nedda at Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre, under director Candace Evans and maestro Daniel Kleinknecht. She has also performed at the Lyric Opera of Chicago in The King and I, under director Lee Blakeley, choreographer and stage director Peggy Hickey, maestro David Chase, and chorus master Michael Black. She was a musical theatre winner in the international Classical Singer competition in 2016, and was a finalist in their classical voice competition in 2014.  This led her to distinguished success as a young artist at the Metropolitan International Music Festival in New York under the direction of Sharon Cheng and Wei-En Hsu, and the Tiroler Opern Programm of Austria, under the direction of Metropolitan Opera director Elizabeth Bachman.

 

Ms. Besa has performed as Marie/ La Fille du Régiment, Gretel/ Hansel and Gretel, Zerlina/ Don Giovanni, Adele/ Die Feldermaus, Musetta/ La Bohème, Pamina/ Die Zauberfl​öte, Susanna/ Le Nozze di Figaro, Yum-Yum/ The Mikado, Trix/ The Drowsy Chaperone, Yvette/ Miss Saigon, and Liat/ South Pacific. 

 

Currently based in Chicago, nicole is active as a lead vocalist for Bluewater Kings,  as a cabaret performer for the Chicago Cabaret Project, and as an artist in residence for The Drifter

 

Nicole received her Associates in Theatre Arts from Brigham Young University in 2012, and completed her BM in Vocal Performance from Illinois Wesleyan University in 2014. Nicole has also received artistic instruction from Boston University, Elon University, and the University of Alaska Anchorage.
